To be real or to not to be? just choose allready

One of the things that bug me?
When a band says their christians, but do things that are not gloryifying to God.
I know noone is perfect,ok?> but cussing, drinking, partying (in a bar)?
how is that being a christian?
How can somebodys music be so good and have so much meaning behind it?, and CHRISTIAN!, and then the next day that band has pictures of them drinking or a post that has cuss words in it?

it's hard to have respect in anyone when they don't even know what it means to be a christian

  1. do yourself a favor and lose the critical spirit and remember why Jesus died not to call the righteous but the sinners to repentance. don't you think there is enough backbiting and accusing going on in the world...without those of us that claim to know Christ joining in on it? instead of focusing on the sins of others let's focus on God and the Lord Jesus Christ the Son of God who did not come to condemn the world but to save the world...the one who did not rebuke sinners but rather those that thought themselves to be righteous and warned them that as they judge they will be judged...when people accused others to Jesus, even His own disciples, Jesus always had defended them in some way, not because what they were doing was necessarily justified, but because in their hearts they were willing to admit it and when they were shown mercy they were thankful and willing to distribute that same mercy unto others not to mention Jesus said that those that are forgiven much love much...it's easy for us to get offended by each other and others especially the world because there is so much gut-wrenching things going on and people tearing themselves and others apart (and often times so do the people in the churches)but the apostle Paul taught that there are many that will die for a good person and possibly some that would even die for a decent person but very few that would die for a wicked person...that is what makes Jesus love so powerful and His sacrifice so great, he died for all of us and not just that he expects us to follow His example as His children. who are the children of God really but those that have or are in the process of receiving the same Spirit that was in Christ Jesus our Lord? at some point we in the church need to become forgiving towards one another and learn to bear each others burdens and turn into a real family so that the whole they will know we are his disciples by the love we have for one another thing can come to pass. we need to learn to intercede for and fight for our brothers and sisters in the Lord through pray and intercession instead of smearing there names...believe me as believers we already get enough of that as it is. let me finish by asking you just this one question...have you ever wanted to just be loved despite all of your faults? Jesus loved us despite all of our faults no matter how few we think we have sometimes we have enough that it caused Him to have to shed His blood for us, so we ought to love each other just as much.

  2. i understand your confusion cuz years ago i would've asked the same questions. but i've come to see how legalistic that kind of thinking is. show me in the Bible where it says to not drink any alcohol. i do know it says to not be DRUNK with wine, but even Jesus & His disciples drank fermented wine. and as far as i'm aware of, there's no list of words in the Bible that God has deemed "cuss" words or sinful. cuss words are just arrangements of letters like any other word. the "wrong" part of it comes when we use those words, or any word for that matter, to hurt someone. what's the difference between calling someone as ass or a bitch vs. calling them a pig, or jerk, or idiot? they're all derogatory names. and even Jesus called the pharisees a brood of vipers... translation: sons of snakes. kinda sounds like our modern day son of a bitch, or son of a female dog. it's not a cuss word. likewise, an ass is a donkey. see what i'm saying? God looks at the intent of our hearts. man looks at the actions & so often deems things as sin when God never did. and what may be a sin to one person may not be to another. sin is simply disobedience to God. and God deals with each of us differently, much like a parent will deal with each of their kids differently according to their needs & personalities & weaknesses. to someone who is prone to alcoholism, God may tell them not to drink. so then if they do, it's sin. but to another who's not, God hasn't forbidden it. i'm not saying there's no absolutes in the Bible, cuz of course there are. but i firmly believe that man has added a lot of do's & don'ts between verse lines. we need to be careful. in addition to all this, man is imperfect. every christian will have struggles & weaknesses. don't expect christians to be perfect. they're not. we'll still sin. probably daily. in some way. even if it's only hidden, or internal, sins such as pride, judgmental spirit, hatred, jealousy, lust, self-righteousness, etc. i used to think i was the perfect "christian" cuz i didn't drink, cuss, smoke, etc. but inside i was full of some of those hidden sins... like a whitewashed tomb. God hates those sins just as much, perhaps even more. bottom line, just because a christian has a drink or says a "cuss" word doesn't mean he's sinning. and even if he does actually sin, we need to remember that he's human and subject to miss the mark, & forgive him his trespasses. and people come from all different backgrounds & experiences & are in different stages of their christian walk than we are. we can't throw our spiritual maturity on someone else & expect them to be at that point too. again, God deals with us individually. and HE is the one to deal with us. it's not OUR job to judge or admonish each other... except in certain circumstances which the Bible speaks of clearly. i know i often miss the mark. and i've been judged & outcast by other christians. and i can tell you how painful that is. i can't be the "perfect" christian they expect me to be. and neither are THEY. that's where christians are hypocritical. and hypocrisy IS a Biblical sin. so be careful when you look at the splinters in others eyes, lest you miss the log in yours. and just because a christian sins doesn't mean God can't and doesn't use him to further His kingdom. imperfect christians are really all God has to use! the message is still true and perfect, even when it comes from imperfect lips. look at every person in the Bible God used! it's still usually presented in love & with a heart & spirit that's right. look to Jesus only as your idol or role model, cuz even the most righteous of man will disappoint you. we're all God's children and we're all imperfect... even you. and i say all this in Godly love as your fellow (older) sister in Christ. God bless. :)

  3. ps... i don't mean to stick my nose in your business and i hope you don't take it as such since we don't know each other, but i've just noticed you struggling with this issue and wanted to offer up my experiences and thoughts to maybe help you work your way thru it, cuz i've been there myself. it's just something for you to chew on. align what i've said up to the Word and disregard anything that's clearly out of line since i'm of course fallible too. i wish you blessings as you seek God's truth in this matter. take care.

  5. Aha Thanks so much for commenting! even though the thing didn't tell me someone did lol xD,
Ok so, 1 question, Are you the same darlene who loves Kids in the way and is friends with Davey Pelsue on FB and comment on his status's?

And You are right in some ways!,but I don't think you should Cuss. Why? because it's my conviction and Ephesians 4:29 tells us, “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” First Peter 3:10 declares, “For, whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech.” James 3:9-12 summarizes the issue: “With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.” James makes it clear that the lives of Christians—the “brothers”—should not be characterized by evil speech. By making the analogy of both salt water and fresh water coming from the same spring (which is uncharacteristic of springs), he makes the point that it is uncharacteristic for a believer to have both praise and cursing come from his/her mouth. Nor is it characteristic for us to praise God on one hand and curse our brothers on the other. This, too, is uncharacteristic of a true believer. Jesus explained that what comes out of our mouths is that which fills our hearts. Sooner or later, the evil in the heart comes out through the mouth in curses and swearing. But when our hearts are filled with the goodness of God, praise for Him and love for others will pour forth. Our speech will always indicate what is in our hearts. “The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks” (Luke 6:45). Why is it a sin to cuss / swear / curse? Sin is a condition of the heart, the mind, and “the inner man” (Romans 7:22), which is manifested in our thoughts, actions and words. When we swear and curse, we are giving evidence of the polluting sin in our hearts that must be confessed and repented of. Thankfully, our great God is “faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). When this happens, we receive a new nature from God (2 Corinthians 5:17), our hearts are transformed, and our speech reflects the new nature God has created within us. Share your thoughts!
It should'nt only be my conviction. it clearly states in the bible GODS word, not to cuss. it causes offense...and for the drinking part, you should'nt get drunk but some bands have said and preached and sworn their were christians. but twitter and FB have shown clearly the mask has fallen, and their sins have been exposed to those around them it saddens me that this is.....and NOONE is perfect i know this, and only God can Judge me and you. but cussing, and drinking (If you get wasted), Drugs etc. Are wrong and the Bible clearly states it ''Wouldn't you rather get drunk in the spirit or my word, rather than endulge yourself in sin with others who do not know me?''-Cassie

  6. hi again cassie. lol, yeah, i'm that same darlene who was a "friend" of davey.

i understand your conviction and it's none of my business to try to change it... however i just wanted to point out that you're using the words cuss and curse to mean the same thing and they're not. look up the biblical definition of curse. it's not saying cuss words. it's invoking evil upon someone or something for their destruction. and even the biblical definition of the word swear doesn't mean to cuss... it's to proclaim an oath. so yes, all those passages you listed do say not to allow things to come out of our mouths that would hurt someone in the way of curses, or to tear someone down and hurt their feelings which we can do with non-cuss words just as easily. other than that, i don't know of anywhere in the Bible that speaks of which words we're to say and which words we're NOT to say in the form of any sort of cuss words.

and again, yes getting drunk or high is wrong. we are to be in control of our bodies and minds. and bands who pronounce themselves "christian" should be setting a better example in the public eye. altho not all the members of a christian band may be a christian. but what they each do in their personal lives is their own business. idk... it's a tough call cuz you know fans of the band will be paying attention to the band members' personal lives thru fb and myspace, etc. as well. but yet they have to be real and can't live their lives according to other people's beliefs, just like the rest of us can't. i guess i'm more concerned about how the "christian" band member treats other people. do they truly have the heart of Christ for their fans or are fans simply money/fame makers to them to be used for their own wants and needs? i couldn't care less if a musician says an occasional cuss word or has an occasional drink as long as he shows me the love of God and doesn't hurt me. i think that's a real indication if God is truly Lord of his life and of what's in his heart.

  7. oh, and another thing... the bible also says that if we have a problem with one of our brethren we're to go to him privately to discuss the matter. i've learned the hard way that when you throw a question or an accusation out there publicly you open yourself up to a bunch of opinions and tongue-lashing and stone throwing by other people. maybe you could send davey a private message and ask him your questions. maybe he'll write back explaining his convictions on the matter. altho don't be hurt if he doesn't. he's just that way. take care. :)
